From mid-2018 to January 2021, I was contracted with ITW Evercoat to assist with label redesign, production design, video editing, and design of additional B2B marketing materials. Parent brands Evercoat and AutoMagic specialize in professional auto body repair and detailing products. I definitely had a few moments where - as a designer with a background in broadcast - I felt out of my element. I quickly found my footing and even attended a few workshops in the plant to better understand the products and the people we were selling to. While I started out assisting with regulatory label updates, I quickly progressed to designing a huge variety of value-add materials for the company. I even had the opportunity to build video animations and displays for ITW Evercoat’s 2018 SEMA Show booth - my first trade show!
One product I was able to work on from near-inception to launch was AutoMagic’s PC 1-2-3 product line. When I arrived, they had completed R&D and settled only on the product colors, bottle labels, and the idea of a paint system “as easy as 1-2-3!”. I was able to consolidate these elements into one cohesive system of products - giving this premium product line a logo for the system, a face for its launch at SEMA in 2018, and a solid base to build all the additional marketing elements from.
