Everything you see was created by me. I actually started somewhere I normally wouldn’t - with fonts. Sinclair Broadcast has a proprietary font, SBG-DIN, which is used throughout our newscasts and media. It was an obvious choice to retain a sense of the parent brand - from there, the logo took shape. Blue cloudy sky and yellow sun, a text message from a friend, a bold compliment; a personality for this web show took form.
Although the show launched to modest success, this passion project was ultimately brought to a close in the Fall of 2021. I’m still incredibly proud of the quality and life of the final piece.
In early 2021, Cincinnati’s favorite morning news anchor and Local 12’s own influencer, Bob Herzog, came up with a concept. Meant to be a bright spot in the midst of a lot of heavy news, the brief was fairly straightforward: The Bright Side needed a high-energy, web-first, and even slightly chaotic brand identity that would retain just a hint of Local 12’s flavor.
